Met Gala 2011

On Monday night, the fashion world crawled out of their sewing warehouses ( or mansion's ) and migrated East for The Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual Costume Institute Gala 2011, damn that was a mouth full, they might have realized this thus led to the renaming of the event the Met Gala. Much more modern and sophisticated, if you ask me. It was hosted by the Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour. This years event celebrated the life of the late designer Alexander McQueen. The exhibit was called Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty, which seemed to fit the late designers style and the all around feel of his creations. It was a night for the stars including Salma Hayek, Renne Zellweger, Ryan Seacrest, Madonna, Kate Hudsen and Jessica Alba, just to name a few. I've sorted through the hundreds of photos of the fashion draped celebs and have picked a few of my personal favorites below. Enjoy, XOX.

Ashley Olsen in Chanel Couture
Beyonce looked primed and poised in an Emilio Pucci skin hugging gown
Rihanna left some to the imagination with this Stella McCartney gown with a train
Louis Vuitton dressed Australian actress Isabella Lucas in this amazing coral pink gown
the head piece and jewelry pull it all together to give you an under water fantasy.
Eva Mendez took with the pleated look as Isabella did in this Stella McCartney dress
Gisele Bundchen stole the show in her tribute gown by Alexander McQueen
Michelle Monaghan in Derek Lam's gown gives the awesome 70's
flirty and fun feel with the color but keeps it sophisticated and sexy with the
long and lean cut and dark nail polish.
Zoe Saldana worked her skin tone with this perfectly yellow Calvin Klein piece.
Her hair and jewelery fall perfectly into place with this entire look.
Sarah Jessica Parker also in Alexander McQueen, it only seems right to pay respect
to the fashion world's latest and greatest.
Gweneth Paltrow is sleek and sexy as always in the floor length gown designed
by Stella McCartney. The best part of this gown, the completely open back, talk about sex appeal.
One of my favorite looks of the night was the Twilight star, Ashley Greene,
floating around the red carpent in her custom made Donna Karan gown. Simply Timeless.
I've saved the best for last, the always stunning Blake Lively showed up to the Met Gala
in none other that Chanel Couture. The grecian style gown with sheer fabric lets you get a
sneak peek to that killer body of her. She played it well, ladies and gentleman. And is my winner
for best dressed at the Met Gala 2011.

Debbie Harry Makes Sense

Debbie Harry became known for being the powerhouse frontwoman of the New Wave band Blondie, in the 1970's and 80's. And it's no wonder that she became famous, who wouldn't be interested in what a beautiful, punk-rebel female is doing when she's not blasting the speakers with her vocals. Her wardrobe choices feature an array of jean vests, high-waisted pants, rompers, blue eye shadow, and dark shadowed cat eyes. And who could talk about Debbie Harry without mentioning her perfect hair. Her rebellious wardrobe is like a window into her punk rock soul. Here I am, decades in the future from when Debbie Harry ran the streets of New York City, and I think her look embodies what a part of today's fashion world is about. Her style has jumped in the punk-rock time machine and is now mimicked by pieces created by designers all around the world, and why? Because WE want them, the youth of today has found relevance in the grunge, 'I don't give a fuck', ripped clothing, messy hair style. And how amazing it is. We love you Debbie Harry. You're still rockin' it.
