Disneyland Photo Diary

This is my favorite photo of the day

My person and I go to Disneyland about once a week, yah, we're Premium Annual Passholders 20% off and everything. I love coming here, I was thinking today, when I come to Disneyland it's like nothing else in the world is going on. The whole entire world is carefree, smells like churros and popcorn and is full of happy, smiling, non-pointing, make-you-feel-like-you're-v.i.p. employee's and it's amazing. I know this is a little on the darker side of what I usually like to post about but I think bringing sick children here while they're undergoing whatever struggle they may have is an amazing way of making them feel 'normal'. Disneyland is a place where you can literally feel the happiness. Guess they meant it when they called it the Happiest Place on Earth.

I wore a classic ensemble today. A black, poet sleeve knit tunic from I don't know where. Blue jean Levi's ( I don't want to say they're flared or bootcut, rather something in the middle of the two ). Camel colored genie flats from Love D. Thrifted bangle, bracelets, and necklace. And of course my Coach crossbody, I attached the longer strap today so it sat about the same length as my top. I was so comfortable in this not only physically because those shoes are literally like slippers but I find wearing classic pieces instead of flashy, out of this world clothing, makes me feel a little warmer inside.

p.s. I'm starting to love my blog, she's ( yes she ) is really becoming a part of who I am, and I'm enjoying it a lot.

Birds of a feather flock together

Feathers are in. Pretty much all things native american are at the moment, and being a descendant of the cherokee tribe has given me the genetic upper hand. So, I take full advantage of my DNA by wearing many indian inspired looks. Including, one of my favorites, feathers, may it be on your clothes, incorporated into accessories, or in your hair. Today I'm talking about feather hair accessories they're great because of there versatility, salons now offer actual extensions that you can wash and curl that are feathers ( I'll get more in detail with this in a future post ), or you can just tie some random feathers to your hair for an equally eclectic and totally awesome look. This particular day I went for a sort of charm bracelet themed hair accessory with feathers, beads and chain all included. So many people loved it and asked how I did it or where I got it so there's the photo for your inspirational pleasure.

The foundation of the day, begins with my foundation. Duh.

I've been a religious Bare Minerals user for quite some time now, I think going on 5+ years, and after reading Kardashian Konfidential they revealed the like to 'shock' their skin and hair by switching up the product every so often, being that these women are probably a few of the world's most popular fashionistas for valid reasons my mind was set upon embarking on a new, slightly frightening journey, finding a new foundation. As you can see I'm a firm believer in if it works don't change it, but time was against me as my skin has changed since I was 16, unfortunately...until now I've never had a blemish or dry spot in my life. Which is a different story now, with the of school, work, hormones and Southern California weather I had gotten myself some unwanted visitors on my face...pimples and dry spots. Now, nothing against B.M. but using a loose powder with dry/flaky skin is just asking for people to notice it all the more, so this change was necessary. I began my journey on a website called makeupalley.com, a site a friend from class recommended to me, it's a wonderful site with the option to post wanted make-up to 'swap' with someone else if you have a piece they want and a forum containing all things beauty. I was advised via google.com ( I usually go to google to ask my life's vital questions ) that I needed a liquid foundation, a heavy cross for me to bear as I have always been one who hasn't had to wear much make-up at all, but...the time had come. This, however, did not change my previous opinions on people who use liquid foundation incorrectly, lines separating their fake skin on their face to their completely different colored necks and so on, so I promised myself I would use sparingly whatever my final choice was. ( it'll last longer that way too! ) So I posted my question up on the forum and within ten minutes I had received about seven replies, all recommending Revlon ColorStay or Maybelline FitMe. Revlon ColorStay was the senior of the two considering Maybelline had just released their FitMe line so people didn't have much to say about it, so I went with the one with more reviews, after all, their both around $9 each so if I didn't like one it's not like my wallet would be dented but too much. I Had my lovely boyfriend take me to the local WalMart and purchased the ColorStay for normal/dry skin in Medium Beige. It blended great, I used a mac foundation brush ( I'm not too familiar with the brush numbers yet but will be soon ) and upon leaving for school my boyfriend commented that I look "radiant", WOW, this is one of the best compliments I've received, who doesn't want to be told they look fresh and glowing, it started off my evening lovely as I'm sure you can imagine. So, there I was, all radiant and blemish free on my way to school. This was the real test because my instructor is one who doesn't know boundaries very well, she always is sure to mention to me how pale or tired I look, but she never said anything. Fortunately, Revlon passed all tests and so, there is it, my NEW ol'reliable...Revlon ColorStay in Medium Beige.
BUT...the skeptic in me won't let me finish this post without mentioning it's only been one day of wearing this, so we'll see what time brings.

So I've decided to try processing my thoughts through this virtual portal. I plan to organize my thoughts on clothing, makeup, photography, words and pretty much whatever I feel like. Let's see how long this keeps my interest.
